Fugro Multi Client Services has recently acquired ~1,160 km2 of new 3D seismic data in the Browse Basin.
The Browse Basin lies offshore the northwest margin of the Australian mainland in water depths ranging from 20 to more than 2000m. The basin contains sediments of Permian to recent age that have a maximum thickness of around 12km.
The Zeemeermin survey is located in the southern part of the basin comprising of the Leveque Shelf which is an offshore extension of the Kimberley Block overlain by Mesozoic and younger sediments increasing in thickness towards the centre of the basin. The primary objective is the widely distributed Plover Formation which has demonstrated being an effective hydrocarbon reservoir in a number of wells in the area with secondary objectives including the Lower and Upper Vulcan Formations.
